My husband and I used KLM Royal Dutch Airlines when we went to Amsterdam to visit his family over the holidays. Our flight was absolutely flawless and we arrived at our destination right on time.

In fact, we were actually 5 minutes early to the gate on our flight returning home. Our flight to Amsterdam was straight through. This was a huge perk for us as we were very eager to see our new baby niece. The tickets were the most affordable available fare. We could have purchased an even cheaper flight had our schedule been a little more flexible. It was so refreshing to be offered a lower fare as it had just been published. This is something I had never seen from any other airline. I really felt like they cared about us and we weren’t just another customer. This was especially nice considering the typical stress of traveling over the holidays. We were bringing a couple gifts for our family and KLM customer service was very helpful in instructing us how to pack them appropriately so we wouldn’t have any difficulties getting through security.

PROS: We were able to pick our seats and check in 24 hours prior to our flight. The desk staff and flight attendants were very responsive and helpful. The price was great for our round-trip tickets and we were able to pre-book our flight with ease for the following year. The seats were extremely comfortable and roomy. We sat in business class on the way going and economy on the way home. Both were pleasant experiences for their seat class.

CONS: I have very few complaints, if any, about this airline. The only thing I would change is the wait time of the flight status information hotline. I had to call a few times because the wait time to speak to a representative was too long. Once I got through to the customer service, however, they were extremely helpful. I was even offered boarding assistance because I mentioned I had a broken arm in a cast. Again, I feel as though I can’t even complain about the wait time. I have been told that I tend to be a very impatient person.

FINAL NOTES Flying on this airline made a dreaded trip overseas absolutely wonderful. Every year traveling to my in-laws house was so stressful, but our trip on KLM was so great, it made for a very pleasant trip. I wouldn’t choose any other airline. They definitely have us as lifetime customers. We are always giving them positive remarks to our friends and coworkers who travel a lot.

RECOMMENDATION : Yes! I absolutely recommend KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

KLM Airlines is offering the best winter deals of the season. Founded in 1919 to serve the Netherlands and its colonies and it is today the oldest airline still operating under its original name. KLM has become part of the Air France offering an astonishing, high-quality network of direct European and intercontinental connections for passengers and cargo. The unmatched customer-oriented service focuses on the individual behind the customer because KLM understands that every customer is different.

Ever since the merger with Air France, I've noticed the quality of KLM's service going downhill. I just can't in good conscious recommend them anymore.  

Royal Dutch Airlines is definitely one of the better airline that I have had the pleasure of using. I am not one of those people that can afford to fly first class so I really appreciate airlines that go the extra mile to make coach passengers feel comfortable and taking care of. I agree with Ima that the level of service provided by this particular airline is a welcome change from the airlines in the United States. If you find yourself flying to the Netherlands, this is definitely the airline to choose thanks to their wonderful staff and comfortable accommodations.

When the family and I flew overseas to visit some extended family, we had the pleasure of flying with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines into the Ukraine a few months ago. We found the staff to be absolutely well trained and friendly. My kids were treated like small celebrities and given extra snacks for being well-behaved. My wife and I both felt like the planes were comfortable and well taken care of. We’ll definitely use this airline again. We are planning on another trip next summer. If you’re going to be flying into Europe, I would definitely give KLM a recommendation.

I have not heard much about the airline KLM and had not ever experienced a flight on this airline until recently. I flew to London via KLM and was very pleasantly surprised. The friendly crew made the flight enjoyable, and I never had to ask for anything, because they beat me to it by coming to me. The plane was very comfortable, and the prices were reasonable compared to the other airlines. I will choose to fly KLM again if I have the chance. It is a great airline, and now it is my preferred.
 

Ah, the Netherlands. A beautiful country is made that much more pleasant with the amazing service and convenience of KLM Royal. This company is outstanding, and I wish American-based airlines would take a cue from them. Every staff member I encountered, from the workers at the airport service desk to the flight attendants, was amazing. They truly want to make you feel welcome and important, and they take care of everything from your luggage to making sure you have an extra soda if you need one. I’m so happy I found this wonderful airline and will fly with them again!

I've flown with KLM for several years, and I can agree with Nick's sentiments about the quality of this airline. Their flight attendants were very nice, and I've never been treated rudely or had my needs ignored. My flights have always gone smoothly, without the disasters that have plagued me on a few other airlines. I found that there was plenty of room in my seat, and I never felt crowded at any point during my last flight. If you need to fly to Europe and need a good option, give KLM a try.

Like Lily, I got to go to the Netherlands and I was also really impressed with the Royal Dutch Airlines and the timing, quality of service and flight. This company is really working hard to be professional and reliable. This is such a nice change from airline companies in the United States where the customers are bullied within an inch of their lives. I wish we had quality airlines like this in the states. If you need to go overseas, choose RDA if you have a chance.

When I went to fly to the Netherlands for my foreign exchange program at school I choose a flight on Royal Dutch Airlines. Wow is all I can say. I really wish American airlines took a page out of this company's book. All the flight attendants were friendly, helpful and always willing to answer a question, get me a soda or something. The airline didn't lose my luggage, didn't treat me like just another passenger. I felt honored and respected. I would fly this airline again if I had to go to the Netherlands.
