Carlsbad Golf Center Driving Range Experience:

Before my visit to the Carlsbad Golf Center, the extend of my golfing experience was playing putt-putt golf as a kid. I had driven past the outdoor driving range more times than I can count while travelling down the 78 highway. One Friday afternoon when I had some free time, I decided to stop by and try my hand at golfing.

As I walked in to the building I was greeted by a staff member. He told me about their free range card membership. They issue you a free membership card that instantly saves you money. The discount you receive depends on the amount you load on the card. For example, I loaded $20 on to my card and received a $22 credit.

The total cost to golf on the range was surprising cheap. I purchased a large bucket for $10, I received a bucket with 104 golf balls. The putter only cost $1 to rent.

Before I started to play, I took a seat and watched the people golfing. The facility is much larger than what I had seen from the highway. Before I began, I purchased a water bottle and then I got started.

They have a sand bunker where people can practice swinging at full power. This looked fun but I decided to try out putting first. After I spent a short while getting familiar with putting, I decided to try out the full swing range. I rented a driver club for $3 and journeyed over to the range. Soon after I started, I realized that this was a little more difficult than putting and I was having some trouble hitting the ball. Towards the end, I started to get the hang of it and was able to connect more often. As I finished, I realized the large bucket of balls I purchased still had plenty left. I offered it to someone I saw walking in and made my way towards the parking lot.

All in all, I had a good time and will be returning in the future. If you live nearby, I recommend you stop by one day and check them out. The place is reasonably priced, has helpful staff and a friendly atmosphere.

Pros: Carlsbad Golf Center is reasonably priced and well-run. They have tables set up where you can take a seat, relax and watch other people play.

Cons: As the evening approached, the sun was facing the driving range and made it slightly more difficult to golf. I would recommend trying to go before 4.

Like previous reviews, I’ve been satisfied by my experience with the Carlsbad Golf Center. I haven’t been to the actual store since there isn’t one nearby, but the online store has plenty of products to choose from. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because I can usually find similar products for much less at my local sports and outdoor store. I do like their Hot Dealz section and have found a great deal on socks I can’t seem to find anywhere else.

I got myself in the habit of buying from the Carlsbad Golf Shop last year when I needed a head cover that I could only find on the website. After comparing prices, I suddenly realized that a lot of the things that I needed were available on the website at excellent prices. Now I buy my gloves and balls from the Carlsbad site and I am also thinking about buying a new set of woods from the site as well. It has all of the tools I need to make sure that I get exactly what I need at the right price.
