Grammarly MS Office Plug-in

I write a lot. I mean I write anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 words a day as a professional writer, and another couple thousand just for fun when goofing around on Facebook or sending emails to friends. I've been writing professionally for about eight years now, and it could be rough in the early years. I never had bad grammar, I was never a terrible speller, but typos happen, and when you're writing 10,000 words a day, double checking them all by yourself just doubles the amount of time you have to spend on each assignment.

I picked up Grammarly for two reasons: to work as a second set of eyes, and to help keep me from making obvious and easily-avoided blunders while writting, I mean writing. See, Grammarly wouldn't have let me get away with that.

When you think of a typical Grammarly customer, you probably don't think of me. I was reading and writing at a college level in middle school and I'm at least a good enough writer that I haven't held another full time job in eight years and I currently own a small home in New Mexico, so I'm not somebody who is in desperate need of help in this regard.

That being said, Grammarly has helped me to write faster by being able to write better, and thus make more money at the keyboard. For some people, Grammarly will work like rubber mallet, banging out the dents in the car that is their grammar. For others it will work more like fine sandpaper, smoothing away the rough spots on an otherwise smooth surface.

No matter where you are as a writer, whether you can't tell you're from your, or you just forget where to place commas now and then, Grammarly is like an expert proofreader who works for nobody but you.

Pros: Easy to use, and the plug-in I downloaded was free. The best part is that it doesn't just work like a spellchecker, it also helps you to improve over time so that you won't need a spellchecker except to be sure that there are no typos.

Cons: You might have a hard time figuring out how to install an MS Office plugin, but there are some tutorials online on sites like eHow, so it shouldn't take you too long to figure it out.

Final Notes: I don't use Grammarly anymore. More often than not these days I prefer the simplicity of MS Word and the built-in spellchecker that comes with that program, but that probably wouldn't be the case if I hadn't used Grammarly in the first place. Even though I don't use it now, Grammarly was integral in getting me to where I am today as a writer.
