Review Body: As I imagine is the case for thousands of folks all over the world, when I decided to upgrade my shoddy computer table in the home office to an executive desk, I really had no idea where to start from. So, what I did was to ask a contact of mine with a rather stunning office where and how he got set up and he pointed me in the direction of the Signature Series Desk - SSD Series as he himself uses. Needless to say, in the early days I was about as excited as most would get about a new desk on which to spend 9-hours a day working, but having now received the desk and experienced the difference for myself, I’ve changed my mind…it’s a work of art!

It really makes sense – the desk you use has the potential to make your working day infinitely easier or a complete and total drag…something I wish I’d cottoned onto ages ago. I went for the understated black version of the Signature Series Desk - SSD Series to correspond with the rest of my home office and can say without doubt that while it blends in seamlessly, it’s made a real impact on my work.

The desk comes with five drawers as standard which are as sturdy and sleek as they are massive in storage space, while I personally opted for a model with a keyboard tray and monitor arm – both of which have already proved to be Godsends. The quality of the materials alone is something to revel in and I can safely say that I’m no longer afraid to lead on my desk in fear of its shoddy metal feet giving way…as was the case with my previous $49 abomination.

Without putting too much of a pretentious slant on things, the nature of my business is one whereby clients and prospective clients often have to make personal visits to my home. Until now, I carried out the necessary talks and paperwork with them in the kitchen as I didn’t want them to see my pathetic attempt at a home office. Now however, I whisk them right upstairs and beam with pride!

For me, the Signature Series Desk - SSD Series delivers the perfect balance of form and function, looking just as perfect in the home office as it would in any room of any conglomerate skyscraper in the world. True, I’ve not gone so far as to actually document and measure whether or not my new desk has significantly improved my productivity, but it’s certainly improved my drive, motivation and overall happiness at work – all of which are priceless, if you ask me.

Pros: Rugged construction to stand both everyday use and the non-stop bumps, bangs and scrapes any office presents. The desk’s overall function in terms of a workstation is practically flawless and delivers the storage space, workable areas and general comfort needed to promote productivity and output. As far as looks go, the desk simply screams professionalism and elegance while at the same time remains decidedly understated and discreet for use in the home office. It’s certainly done wonders for my desire to work, which is of course rather on the important side for anyone that’s their own boss.

Cons: The only con for me was the obvious no-brainer that the thing is rather on the heavy side – a con for me for no reason other than I’m a bit of a weakling. Still, it’s this weight that gives the desk rugged strength and sturdiness, therefore I’d rather find it tough to lift or move than have it bend and break at the slightest nudge.
