The item is the Schramsberg Vineyards 2002 J. Schram North Coast Sparkling Wine that I bought from the CA Wine Club about a week or so ago. I had been looking for a good wine to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my sweet wife. For this purpose, I had searched many websites and stores but had not been able to find one that could suit the occasion. Finally, I came across the CA Wine Club website and laid my eyes on the J. Schram North Coast Sparkling Wine produced by Schramsberg Vineyards.

I had listened a lot about the Schramsberg Vineyards from some friends of mine and they were full of praise for the wines produced by this brewer. When I saw that the J. Schram North Coast Sparkling Wine was rated the best wine produced by this brewery, I was tempted to buy it for the special occasion. In the description mentioned underneath this bottle, I read the reviews that some of the critics had given it and all of them had given it top marks for its taste. Seeing this, I was almost convinced about buying it. However, it was only when I saw that the wine had aged almost 11 years that my decision about buying this wine bottle became final.

I placed an order for it online and asked the website to have it shipped to my home address. The procedure for ordering the wine was simple enough and did not take me long to complete. However, the delivery of the wine was a bit late and I had to wait for three days to get the wine. Fortunately, I had placed the order a whole week in advance of the anniversary date and so was able to open it on that special night.

My wife is a great admirer of wines that have aged properly and have matured a bit. When she tasted this wine, she loved the taste and expressed her delight by saying that it was the best wine she had ever tasted. I too was amazed by the great taste and flavor of this wine. I had heard from my wife that old wines taste a lot better than the freshly prepared ones but I had never experienced this myself. Now that I had tasted an old wine, I was becoming aware of how true she was.

The California (CA) Wine Club website from where I purchased this wine bottle is an excellent website. It has an elegant design, which is very pleasing to the eyes and its informational content provides the customers a chance to read about the wines they are buying.

We enjoyed the wine a great deal and this wedding anniversary of ours became a memorable one for the both of us. We had a very great time drinking this wine and remembering the fond memories of our 10 years of marriage. I would love to recommend this wine to all the couples out there who want to enjoy a great wine on their special night.

Pros: The Schramsberg Vineyards 2002 J. Schram North Coast Sparkling Wine is indeed a great wine that has aged for over 11 years. It has developed a very amiable taste in these years and has matured into a very delicious wine that is hard to put down. According to most critics, it is among the best wines produced by the Schramsberg Vineyards.

Cons: This wine has no real issues or problems associated with it and I was not able to find anything to complain about in it as well. It is just a very tasty wine that is available for a very reasonable price. This is the reason why I am so happy to have bought it. However, what disappointed me a bit was the delivery that went more than expected. Luckily, I had some time to spare, or else, things would not have turned so great for me.

California Wine Club Premier Club Membership:

I am a wine enthusiast and I recently joined the Premier Club of California Wine Club. I was hesitant at first because being from Pennsylvania, there are strict liquor laws here which might prevent the wine from getting delivered. But since it was a great deal – being able to cancel anytime I want and absolutely no membership fees – I figured I would try them for a month. Like I said, I was apprehensive but then two bottles of wine came. I do not know how they did it but apparently, they can ship anywhere except to Utah.

>When I received my first shipment, it contained two wines, a newsletter called “Uncorked”, a sheet with a special offer, and some other marketing materials that I did not bother myself with. It was because I was immediately curious about the wines. I opened the box and found a Zinfandel and Chardonnay from Perry Creek Winery. I had lime grilled chicken Caesar salad for dinner, which I enjoyed with Chardonnay. This was specifically cleaner and crisper than the other Chardonnays I had. It was not even too oaky, which is a trait that most Chardonnays share.

On the other hand, the Zin that came with the Chardonnay was not exactly my favorite. Do not get me wrong - it was actually okay. Perhaps this was because I am not a fan of dark red wines. I am currently in love with Pinot Noir and Malbec, but red Zinfandels are not normally on my list.

My last shipment was only a couple of weeks ago where they sent me Fess Parker Winery’s 2010 Pinot Noir and Riesling. Like I said, Pinot Noir is one of my favorites so I excitedly tasted it without pairing it with food. The first time I poured the wine into the glass, I was amazed by the color. I sniffed it and observed a ripe cherry aroma, almost like the ones you smell in candied cherries. I was a bit disappointed though; the taste is somewhat lackluster and thin unlike the other Pinot I have tasted before. The other wine, 2010 Riesling, was surprisingly good. It was clean and crisp to my palate with a touch of lemon zest and citrus. The taste was interesting – not too sweet with lots of acidity in it.

All in all, I was happy with my seamless membership experience. Wines were delivered for two months in a row and now I am looking forward to my next one.

Pros: Being a Premier Club member at California Wine Club, I was pleasantly surprised at the wines they gave me. Although my membership level was at the lowest tier, the shipment and the packages I have received so far met my expectations. I can even say that they are close to exceeding my expectations because of the wines and the beautifully crafted “educational” newsletter.

Cons: Although I am happy with me being a part of the club, I was a bit dissatisfied with the Pinot Noir which was supposed to be my favorite. The pricing is also a bit hefty especially when I learned that the Pinot should only be $11, but the newsletter said the suggested retail price was $26.

Other Info: The beauty of becoming a CWC member for me is that I can now taste wines from regions that are typically represented by the wine community in California. The owners, Pam and Bruce Boring handpicked the wines themselves.

Review Title: The Perfect Gift for my Dad

Review Body My dad is such an awkward person to buy presents for, and when his birthday came around again a few months ago I was really struggling to find him something which I thought he would appreciate.

In previous years I had resorted to buying him books and DVDs but had never once actually seen him read or watch any of them so this year went online to try to find some inspiration. I know that my Dad likes his wine so I started searching for gift options in this area and came across the California Wine Club Website. The website really interested me and I felt that it was really well designed, easy to navigate and provided a lot of information about the different products and services offered. Browsing through the site I found the Premier Club option and thought that this would be the perfect gift for my Dad.

I chose the three month gift option for 1 bottle of red wine and 1 bottle of white wine for a very reasonable $111.99 and crossed my fingers hoping that my Dad would appreciate the gift as much as I thought he would. When the first month’s wines arrived complete with the excellent colour magazine my Dad called me straight away to say how happy he was with his gift. He found the magazine to be really informative and really enjoyed trying some excellent wines which he hadn’t tried before, and he was very enthusiastic about how good both of the first month’s wines were. His second delivery from the California Wine Club arrived a few days ago and happened to coincide with one of my visits, so I can personally vouch for the quality of the second set of wines which really were excellent.

It has been so gratifying to find and give a gift that my Dad actually uses and appreciates and that both myself and my Mum can also enjoy along with him. From the first couple of months it also seems that the wines provided through the premier club are nicely varied and my Dad is very much looking forward to receiving his third delivery. He is so pleased with his present in fact that he has asked me to show him the website so that he can look into extending his membership of the premier club and continue to receive his monthly deliveries.

Pros: Where do I start? There are so many positive aspects which I can discuss regarding my purchase of the three month gift membership of the Premier Club from the California Wine Club. The quality of the wines provided and the entertaining and engaging content of the complimentary magazine are second to none and really reflect the ‘premier’ nature of the Premier Club.

Both months’ deliveries which we have received have arrived promptly when we expected them and have been well packed so as to protect the bottles and avoid any damage. The price was also very reasonable for what you receive in my opinion and whilst I was not bargain hunting in my search for a good gift this was an added bonus. Finally, the most positive aspect of my purchase was that I managed to find a different and innovative gift for my Dad who is normally nigh on impossible to buy for.

Cons: The only slight negative that I could mention about the Premier Club would be that there isn’t an option to receive two different bottles of red wine rather than one red and one white or two bottles of the same red. If this option were available it would have been perfect as my Dad is more of a red wine fan but he could still have enjoy having two different wines to try each month.

Website Experience: I found the California Wine Club to be very informative and simple to navigate which made it easy to browse through and investigate the different options which were available. The ordering and checkout process was nice and easy and the fact that my Dad can easily purchase further months for himself is a real bonus.
